Our room was fabulous, with so many little extras and attention to detail. We have never stayed somewhere that thought of absolutely everything. We didn't partake of the 'Honesty bar' as we only stayed one night, but what a fabulous idea! We were able to preorder our breakfast from an amazing selection of options and it was done to perfection! Joanne and Mike were the perfect hosts and couldn't do enough for us. Such a lovely couple who made our stay perfect! We will definitely stay there again and hopefully for a bit longer next time.

I stayed at the Ternhill Farmhouse in Market Drayton for four nights. The accommodation for me was ideally located, the room was very tastefully decorated, the hotel has an old world charm , with charming yesteryear bric a brac. Breakfasts were very varied, served punctually at one’s required time. Hotel an breakfast costs were competitively priced. If in the area and in need of accommodation, Ternhill Farmhouse is THE place. I will be back.

I wrote a review earlier in the year about the high standards that the owners maintain at Ternhill Farm House and how our stay was excellent. At the time I had only one minor gripe......the size of the shower cubicle. A few months on and this stay was booked for the same room. Imagine my surprise when we walked into the room and found that the whole en-suite had been re-vamped. By re-arranging the door position the owners have managed to fit in a larger shower cubicle with a multi-head shower attachment. The room has also been re-tiled and it looks great.......clean and fresh. I can't give a higher score than 5 but surely they deserve more!!

We've already booked a return to Ternhill, so that tells you something about what we thought from our first visit! We were well looked after and felt very comfortable and relaxed immediately on arrival. The room was large and spacious, the bed included, although if I was to make one minor remark it would be the size of the shower cubicle. This is a common fault of many establishments....the shower head was good and powerful but the cubicle size was small. What I must add, however, is that the room was impeccably clean and well made up every day and that the shower did not detract in any way from the enjoyment we had. On top of this the breakfast was very nicely done and the gardens were a treat for the eyes. I would certainly recommend Ternhill to anyone thinking of stopping in this area.

The rooms and food quality are excellent. The only drawback is the location which in summer makes it difficult to cool the room down. While we were at dinner someone kindly drew the curtains and closed the windows, so that the room was like an oven and made sleep impossible. Not helped by the heavyweight duvet. Following night better as we had the windows open all evening, and put up with the noise levels. Noise isn't a problem once windows are closed, so the main issue is room temperature at night in summer.
Response
Thank you for taking the time to review your stay, Dr Matthews. We are pleased to hear that you enjoyed the room and food. However, we are also concerned that you found the room so difficult to cool down.Whilst it has been a particularly warm period....a very rare hot UK July....we do provide a fan in each of our rooms to try to keep the room a little cooler. We would love to install air conditioning but, sadly, our Listed Building status makes this prohibitive. As part of our AA 5 Star rating we are required to offer a "turn down" service (usually whilst guests are dining on their main course), which includes closing the curtains/blinds and removal of spare scatter cushions on the beds.During the summer we also turn on the fan in the rooms at this time so that the room is not too warm when guests retire for bed. With regard to the bedding, "Wem Room" has a duvet as standard on the bed.It also has a spare sheet & spare piilows in the drawers (as detailed in the Guest Information Folder) and thinner cotton quilt to use as an alternative during the warmer nights. We assume that you had not seen this information in the Guest Information Folder, but would have been happy to have changed the bedlinen for the second nights stay upon request. We are very sorry if the temperature of the room may have hindered the enjoyment of your stay, but thank you again for your constructive comments and do hope that it will not deter you from returning in the futureKind regardsJo

We travelled to Shropshire from the Isle of Wight on Friday 5th April and upon arriving at Ternhill Farm House we were immediately met by a charming young man who welcomed us, explained where we could park and then showed us to our room detailing where we we could find everything we needed. Our stay was perfect.A table had been set for our group of 7 wedding guests which then grew to 9.We cousins and husbands hadn't seen one another for quite some time, in some cases 20 years, so there was a lot of chatter and exuberance and yet the chef and the staff at the hotel seemed to second guess our needs and managed to serve us all at the same time. Our meals were delicious and the service was excellent. On the morning of the wedding we again had a large table set up for our breakfasts - and again, the food was excellent and the timing perfect. With our room keys we were also given 'late pass' keysalthough not all of us came back from the wedding too late, I hope!Sunday morning breakfast again was perfect. The staff were lovely and we so enjoyed our whirlwind wedding weekend in Shropshire. The hotel is very tastefully and artfully decorated with homely items, paintings and pictures.I just loved the collection of vintage pastel coats on the coat stand on one of the stair cases. The decor was a quirky mix of prized possessions and thoughtful colour schemes and very much to my taste. We will definitely use the hotel again.

This was our Ruby Anniversary and everything we were looking for was provided. The room was spotlessly clean, spacious and beautifully furnished and decorated with lovely ‘extras’in the room like fresh milk, dressing gowns etc. Also available were an assortment of different teas just outside the room. The flat screen TV and built in DVD player was appreciated with a large choice of DVD’s and also books available.Whilst it is located at a roundabout on main roads we did not require the ear plugs provided even though my wife is sensitive to noise. Our breakfast was excellent and the food and the choice in the restaurant was exceptional and beautifully presented. All the staff were very polite and friendly; we would definitely like to stay there again and would thoroughly recommend it to anyone.

Wow! What a beautiful intimate hotel with a lovely location - quiet yet convenient.Wonderful attentive staff. Fabulous food- outstanding and beautifully presented. The bedrooms were wonderful and apart from not having a bath ( excellent shower ) the attention to detail was amazing - everything supplied that you could possibly need. I can't wait to go back when I have more time. Thank you.

We had a wonderful stay from check in... A lovely young man welcomed us on arrival, giving us a relaxed home from home feeling. We stay in the room "Wem", elegantly furnished, with a large queen sized bed. The bathroom was beautiful too, with great finishings, such as the waterfall style tap in the sink and an L-shaped bath.We decided to eat in the restaurant that night, after seeing the mouth-watering menu. It totally excelled any expectations we could have had. I started with a fillet of beef and strawberry salad, and my partner the soup, which were both beautiful. Then for mains the chicken with broad bean and chorizo risotto, to die for. We both also had desserts. Myself a cheese, and partner the rhubarb bakewell tart, with homemade ice-cream (That I had to try too!!!) The whole meal was a real taste sensation. And we'd both definetly recommend to anyone passing through the area.Upon returning to our room, they had closed the curtains, put the lamps on, had a general clean and left us two half bottles of sparkling wine on ice for us, which was a really nice touch for our anniversary.Alhough the property is based on a roundabout, we both slept without a peak, due to the double glazing blocking out almost all sound. The breakfast was a cullinary excellance too, with a wide variety of food, to suit anyones dietary needs. We were both so sad to leave, and can't wait to return again! A real find!!!

What a splendid surprise, upon arrival, greeted with a smile and genuinely felt most welcome. The wines available for dinnerwere certainly to our tastes and the meal was superb as was the breakfast the following morning. how different to other establishments we have stayed in. Despite the distance, worth travelling for a return visit.

My wife and I (Americans) stayed four nights at Ternhill Farm House and dined twice at The Cottage Restaurant while visiting English cousins in Market Drayton and Walsall, and were very pleased with Mike and Jo's gracious hospitality, our very comfortable and spacious room, and the excellent food. The accommodations fully met our expectations, the hosts & staff were very helpful, and the food far exceeded expectations. The varied menu was inspired, the food attractively presented, and our meat and fish dishes were delicious and perfectly cooked. We strongly recommend a visit.

My daughter and I both really enjoyed staying at Ternhill. We stayed in the twin bedded Whitchurch room which proved to be both characterful and well appointed. After a long drive we were delighted to be able to dine so well on site, and grateful for lovely comfortable beds. Our welcome was warm, and breakfast can also be highly recommended. We were able to set off for my daughter'sStunt Riding Day with the Company of Horsemen well refreshed and ready for anything! Highly Recommended!

Fabulous restuarant with an extensive menu and all locally sourced food cooked as you like to perfection. Food quality and interesting dishes are delicious. Staff are very attentive without being intrusive, all very friendly and seem to enjoy their work serving us.The rooms are comfortable and well supplied with alsolutely everything you need - especially thye ear plugs if you need them when you open the windows during the night as the location is at a busy crossroads. Nevertheless our stay was enjoyable and we will certainly be back again.Highly recommended.

The room was spacious and beautifully furnished and decorated with lovely ‘extras’, the restaurant was fantastic (food and service) and the thoughtful little touches all over the place (the assortment of different teas available just outside the room, the mending kit further down the corridor, the magazines and books made available etc. – and of course the Teddy on the bed) made this a great place to stay, my only regret being that I couldn’t stay longer or spend some time in the grounds.I’ve been fortunate enough to stay in some fantastic (and very expensive) hotels and this one still makes it in to my Top Ten.Many thanks for all your hard work and thoughtfulness.*Maybe I shouldn’t leave a review – it was a splendid stay but I don’t want too many people knowing that or I won’t be able to book at the last minute and you may price me out if you get too popular!

I stayed at Ternhill Farm the night after staying in an expensive golf resort hotel and the difference was very noticable. The farmhouse is welcoming and comfortable, the staff are friendly and helpful and the rooms are large and clean. The finishing touches to my room such as a teddy bear sitting on the bed and ear plugs in case I needed made me feel that this was a hotel that cared for it's residents. The food was absolutely fantastic, a great choice and full of flavour with generous portions. The other guests in the restaurant had different choices to me and all were commenting on how good the food was.I will stay at this hotel whenever I am in the area, it is a new favourite!

A very comfortable and spacious room with lots of nice touches - for example, good range of hot drinks, fresh milk, good quality liquid soap and shampoo, ear plugs as they are at a major roundabout. Actually I didn't need them even though we live in the ocuntry and traffic noise usually bothers me; it seemed to ease off at bed time. Breakfast was excellent; I am only sorry I wasn't there when the restaurant was open!My only suggestion would be for work space and suitable chair as I was on business.

I chose Ternhill Farm House is a midway point between Manchester airport and my ultimate destination for a one night stopover. This was a very lucky choice as the accommodation was excellent, the staff very friendly and the restaurant served food of exceptional quality. There was even a teddy bear on the ample sized bed ! I would be very happy to stay there again. With many thanks, Fred Thomas

Our usual Hotel was closed so found Ternhill on Google and was annoyed we hadn't found it earlier as we (three of us) had a throughly enjoyable one night stay with excellent accommodation and great food. Love all the thoughtful touches in the rooms which are a great boon for business travellers compared to the 'Premier style' rather spartan offerings. Only slight issue was some traffic noise which the earplugs (supplied) handled quite well. We'll be back!

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Ternhill Farm. It was a perfect location for us, we spent time shopping at the Potteries in Stoke on Trent, an evening in Whitchurch with friends and then to Ternhill for a very comfortable night. We enjoyed a delicious breakfast which we were able to pre order enabling us to get away promptly. So, we liked the location, loved the decor, thoroughly enjoyed the food, and found the Staff very friendly. We would definitely like to stay there again. All in all a first class Venue which we would thoroughly recommend.

Many thanks for posting a review, Mr & Mrs RandallWe are very pleased that you enjoyed your stay. Our plans are to redesign the bathroom in Shrewsbury very soon, with a view to putting in a wider bath. We, too, appreciate that whilst it is currently a "standard sized" bath, there is now a wider choice of larger baths available.Hopefully this will be completed prior to any future visit to North Shropshire, as we would love to welcome you back to Ternhill Farm HouseKind regardsMike & Jo

I THOROUGHLY ENJOYED MY STAY AT TERNHILL: THE HOUSE IS FULL OF CHARACTER AND INTERESTING OBJECTS; THE FOOD OF A HIGH STANDARD; THE LOCATION VERY CONVENIENT FOR THE SURROUNDING LOCAL a ROADS AND THE OWNERS AND STAFF VERY HELPFUL AND ACCOMMODATING. THE ONLY DOWNSIDE IS THAT THE CONVENIENT LOCATION ALSO MEANS THAT THERE IS TRAFFIC NOISE THROUGHOUT THE NIGHT, EAR PLUGS OR SOUND SLEEPERS REQUIRED!

Interesting rooms, far from the hotel design boxes seen in new buildings around the world. The food was lovely but the requirement to choose days in advance takes away the "what do I want to eat this evening" choice etc.Breakfast was one of the best we have had anywhere and that includes Scotland and even Ireland. The owners are great and nothing is too much trouble.Although on a busy roundabout sleep comes quickly in the very comfortable beds.Last word has to be for Rosie and Lillie the house Border Terriers. They are so cute and well behaved. A joy to have around.

Thank you so much for your comments, Mr & Mrs Glacken...we are very pleased that you enjoyed your stay & Rosie & Lily definately appreciated all the attention. We understand that pre-ordering your dishes is a "bit of a pain", but this is only a requirements for parties of 8 or more.Previous experience has taught us that this is the best way to avoid potentially "running out" of certain dishes....and enables groups to chat over pre-dinner drinks rather than having to concentrate on studying the menu.We are very proud of the produce available in Shropshire, and it's wonderful to hear that visitors from other counties appreciate the quality of our local suppliers.Thank you again for your kind comments....we hope to welcome you back to Ternhill Farm House & The Cottage Restaurant very soonMike & Jo Abraham

I can understand why this hotel has such a good rating. I could not fault it in any way. The interior decor was beautiful, and I do not think I have EVER stayed in such a clean hotel. The attention to detail was incredible - apples on the landings for snacks, a sewing kit out on the landing, razors in the bathroom, and even a hot water bottle for those cold nights!!!!!! We ate in the restaurant and again, I could not fault the food. I used to get 'hotel envy' from friends who told me they had found a real treasure of a hotel somewhere, but I wont have that anymore as found a treasure of my own!!! Will definetly return.Room Tip: Check out the rooms on the web siteStayed June 2011, travelled as a couple

We had a two night stay in this lovely farmhouse. Arriving during a power cut the room looked stunning lit up by many candles! The room was decorated beautifully with many extra finnishing touches that made it special. The bed was comfortable and dispite being on a busy road junction the noise was not excessive. The hosts were welcoming and nothinng was too much trouble. The restaurant, still functioning throughout the power cut, was again lovely by candle light! The food was of excellent quality and absolutly delicious! The service attentive and efficient.Altogether a great place to stay with a good location for exploring Shropshire.Stayed March 2011, travelled as a couple

The exterior of Ternhill Farm House, on a busy road, beside a roundabout and opposite a fuel station, is not immediately promising. Take no account of it.The interior is warm and welcoming. Our bedroom, Hodnet, had the most comfortable 6ft bed we have ever slept in. Everything you could ever need or want is provided, including books and magazines to borrow.Everything worked. Now to the meals: the menus were interesting and different and the combinations of flavours really work.Presentation is beautiful. The cooking is divine. We will visit again.Liz Heard

A very comfortable B&B. We have seen the same standard elsewhere at rather less cost, but otherwise it was hard to fault. The owners and staff were generally welcoming and helpful. We were given a late dinner, of excellent quality, and good value on the special 2 course menu. The room was superb. We would certainly repeat the experience, particularly since there seems to be nowhere else of similar standard in that area.
